Shifting from rail to road – save combined transport!

(Frankfurt/Main, 30. Oktober 2025) Against the backdrop of the particularly precarious situation in our industry, we have joined forces with other intermodal providers and associations to send an open letter to the Federal Minister of Transport, Patrick Schnieder, and the new CEO of Deutsche Bahn, Evelyn Palla. The open letter provides information about the current worrying developments in the areas of infrastructure, service quality, track access charges and the further impending effects of the general renovation on particularly important combined transport corridors.

Hupac, TX Logistik, ERFA, Fermerci, UIRR, SGKV and Kombiverkehr also highlight the political measures that are now necessary to improve the situation:

  • Zero increase in track access charges for 2026
  • Capacity guarantee of at least 90% of current transport performance
  • Upgrading of suitable diversion routes
  • Track allocation in the event of bottlenecks according to market demand
  • Operating allowance for inferior train paths during corridor renovations
  • Suspension of cancellation fees

The signatories call on politicians to address these issues immediately and are available for joint discussions to find effective solutions.
