Call for a return to building under the rolling wheel
Kombiverkehr GmbH & Co. KG has drawn up a mixed balance sheet for the 2024 financial year. In a challenging economic and operational environment, the company was able to stabilise its network and generate a positive annual result despite a decline in volume. In total, Kombiverkehr KG shifted 769,733 truck shipments (-5.6 per cent) from road and waterways to climate-friendly rail in the 2024 financial year and achieved an annual surplus of over EUR 215,000. The operator sees an urgent need for political action in the ongoing corridor renovations on the German rail network and in the regulation of track access charges. Read more

Kombiverkehr initiates restart of discussion on CT directive

Kombiverkehr defies difficult environment in 2024: 780,000 shipments transported and new trains launched
The economic weakness in Germany and Europe is not without consequences for freight and intermodal transport. In the 2024 financial year - the second consecutive year of recession in Germany - Kombiverkehr KG also suffered a slight decline in consignments. However, in view of the difficult economic environment and a high level of construction activity on the German rail network the Frankfurt-based operator held up relatively well. Read more

Kombiverkehr KG has completed traction reorganisation project
Kombiverkehr KG has successfully completed the traction reorganisation project in just six months. At the shareholders' meeting in June 2024, the company announced that due to EU proceedings against the Federal Republic of Germany as the owner of DB Cargo, it would reorganise the purchased traction services and transfer a large part of the transport operations to other rail transport companies (RUs). As of February, the Frankfurt operator has mastered and completed this task with the combined efforts of all RUs and its own workforce.Read more

Kombiverkehr KG creates capacities in Brenner transport
Kombiverkehr KG is creating additional capacity in its Europe-wide intermodal network between Germany and Italy. As of this month, freight forwarders and logistics companies can once again have their trailers, swap bodies and containers transported between the port of Lübeck and Verona in northern Italy on a direct train connection, which the Frankfurt-based operator has once again added to its timetable.Read more
