• Frankfurt-based intermodal operator strengthens its presence in Spain
• Sébastien Eisner appointed as the company’s new managing director
• Focus on expanding domestic rail services within Spain and tapping into new customer groups

(Frankfurt am Main, 10. September 2026) Kombiverkehr KG has acquired 100 per cent of the shares in the Spanish company Combiberia S.A., thereby becoming the sole shareholder of the company. With this full takeover, the Frankfurt-based intermodal operator is strengthening its presence in the Spanish market and will in future assume sole responsibility for Combiberia S.A.’s local operations.

Combiberia has been operating as an intermodal company since 1992 and has been working closely with Kombiverkehr KG since 1994. Acting as an agent for Spanish freight forwarders and logistics companies, the company organises intermodal transport to and from the Iberian Peninsula, which runs via Kombiverkehr’s network to and from Barcelona, Madrid and other terminals in Spain. This includes, in particular, supporting clients in both commercial and operational matters, in some cases by ensuring seamless communication between the Frankfurt head office and the terminals in Spain. “Through our special involvement in Combiberia, we are moving even closer to the Spanish logistics market and strengthening our ties with the local intermodal sector. This is an important step for the further development of our business in Spain in line with our corporate strategy,” says Dirk Steffes, Managing Director of Kombiverkehr KG.

For Combiberia’s customers and business partners, continuity is the top priority for the time being: the existing points of contact will remain the same in day-to-day business. Combiberia’s head office will remain in Madrid, with further offices in Irun and Barcelona. Kombiverkehr is also prioritising continuity in terms of personnel: Antonio Pérez Millán will remain with Combiberia as Senior Executive Advisor. The new managing director will be Sébastien Eisner, who is responsible for sales in Western Europe at Kombiverkehr. The company, which is now part of the Kombiverkehr Group, will adopt a new corporate identity in future.

Over the coming years, Combiberia is set to be further developed as an intermodal operator in Spain. The focus will be, in particular, on new domestic rail services within Spain and on tapping into new customer groups, including in the temperature-controlled transport sector.
